    Foreign direct investment pledged to South Korea rose 69.8 percent from a year earlier to US$2.72 billion (€1.75 billion) in the first quarter, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy said Wednesday.

    Gains in planned investments in the services sector largely led the increase, the ministry said in a statement.

    The ministry said it expects pledged foreign investment of around US$12 billion (€7.7 billion) for all of 2008.
